WEATHER / AIR POLLUTION POLICY

The following weather policies apply to all Auskick clubs and age groups, and any cancellations of training / matches will be communicated via TeamSnap and/or email prior to the commencement of the session. If no communication has been received, it can be assumed that training / matches will continue as scheduled.

RAIN

Rain / Thunderstorm policy uses Hong Kong Observatory’s standard rain storm warning signals and follows the following guidelines;

AMBER Rain Signal – All age group training and games will proceed as scheduled

RED / BLACK Rain Signal  – All age group training and games will immediately be suspended or cancelled in advance where appropriate.

Localised thunderstorm warnings – All age groups (inc. Junior Dragons): training and games will immediately be suspended or cancelled in advance where appropriate.

TYPHOON

Typhoon policy users Hong Kong Observatory’s standard tropical cyclone warning signals and follows the following guidelines;

T1 – All age group training and games will proceed as planned.

T3 – All age group training and games will proceed as planned.

T8 or above – All age group training and games will immediately be suspended or cancelled in advance where appropriate.

 

AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution policy follows the HK Education Department guidelines for children and uses the HK Air Quality Heath Index to determine conditions. Where possible, clubs will assess the forecast before deciding whether to cancel in advance or wait and assess actual local conditions closer to start times. Parent communications and expectations will be taken into account when deciding on the timing to cancel sessions.

AQHI 6 or below – All age group training and games will proceed as planned.

AQHI 7 – All age group games will NOT be conducted. Club coaches will assess local conditions and decide whether to suspend/cancel training sessions or continue with light activities only (limiting physical exertion).

AQHI 8 or higher – All age group training and games will immediately be suspended or cancelled in advance where appropriate.

HIGH TEMPERATURES

High temperature policy uses the Hong Kong Observatory’s standard weather warning signals and follows the following guidelines;

Very Hot Weather Signal – All age group games will NOT be conducted. Club coaches will assess local conditions and decide whether to suspend/cancel training sessions or continue with light activities only (limiting physical exertion).
