EMPOWER AND ENABLE GIRLS
TO PLAY AFL IN HONG KONG
Register for 2023 Season
We are a very friendly bunch who would love to see you come along and give it a go.
Don’t know the rules?
Don’t know anyone else?
Doesn’t matter!
‘Empower and Enable the Women’s Game at all levels’ is the Australian Football League Women’s vision, and the Hong Kong Auskick Committee are committed to increasing the participation of girls and teens playing AFL. Australian Rules Football is a brilliant sport for developing fitness, agility, coordination and ball skills and will definitely compliment and consolidate your skills for any other sport you play.
Not sure if AFL is for you? We welcome all girls to attend training for a 2-week trial to see if they like the sport – we promise you won’t be disappointed!
Season 2023 Details:
Our season will run from May through June, with additional informal sessions to potentially be held during the July school holidays.
The 2023 season will consist of weekly training which includes a combination of skills and games.
Registration Cost: nil
Uniforms: There will be no set uniform this season as we look to relaunch Auskick in Hong Kong so we ask all girls to turn out in their favourite team strip or athletic wear. You will need your own trainers/football/rugby boots and a mouth guard.
Under 10, 12, 14
Head Coach: Blake Dimitrijevic
Assistant Coaches: Leith Stewart and Chris Brookes
Training days and times: Sundays, 8:00-9:30 and Saturdays, 16:30-18:30

All girls who are 9 years old or turning 9 in 2022 are welcome to join this age group. Similarly, all girls who are 14 or turning 14 in 2022 are also eligible to play. We appreciate this is a large age group, however we will divide players via ability level and age during training and games.
UNDER 8 & under 6
Head Coach: TBC
Assistant Coaches: TBC
In the Under 8 and Under 6 divisions, girls and boys learn and play together.
PARENTS/CAREGIVERS WANT TO GET INVOLVED??? WE NEED YOU.
We love it when parents help us out and the Girls Section is looking for parent volunteers as follows:
- Coaching assistants. We are always grateful for either Mums or Dads to help out coaching and organisation on training days.
- Social coordinator: To help organise the Season opening, Gala Day and End of Season party.
- Social media and website: To take photos during training and social events and pass them onto the Administration assistant.
- Canteen: Most weeks, we need some extra bodies to help with icy poles, footy cards, uniform distribution etc.. You don’t need to help out every week but if you were wiling to spare a few hours over the season, we’d be grateful.
*Please indicate on the registration form if you would be willing to lend a hand throughout the season.
MEET YOUR COACHES

Name: Coach Blake
Favourite AFL Women’s Team: Western Bulldogs
Favourite AFL Men’s Team: Western Bulldogs
Favourite Player: Aaron Naughton and Erin Phillips
Why do you like coaching the girls: For the looks on their faces when they hit a great kick or slot a goal. You can see the confidence build each week, and then by the end of the season they are ready to take on anyone.
Best part of the footy season: Those 30 minutes after a win
Worst part of the footy season: Being sore on a Monday
Favourite Quote: “The harder I work the luckier I get.”

Name: Coach Leith
Favourite AFL Women’s Team: Gold Coast Suns
Favourite AFL Men’s Team: Brisbane Lions
Favourite Player: Maddison Levi & Dusty Martin
Why do you like coaching the girls: I love watching the girls, regardless of age or ability work together during training and encourage and support each other. They love to have fun but are extremely competitive as well…we definitely have some rising stars.
Best part of the footy season: I love watching a player master a skill for the first time and I love seeing a mix of kids and parents turn up every single Saturday. Auskick have done a fantastic job at creating a great community.
Worst part of the footy season: The heat
Favourite Quote: “You can’t be, what you can’t see.”
Name: Coach Brooksy
Favourite AFL Women’s Team: The Mighty Dees
Favourite AFL Men’s Team: The Mighty Dees
Favourite Player: Daisy Pearce (also a ripping commentator) and Clayton Oliver
Why do you like coaching the girls: They have fun, try their hardest, don’t complain, want to improve and sometimes listen to me.
Best part of the footy season: Finals! Spring has sprung, the days are getting longer, the ball whizzes around at training and there’s a smell of cut grass in the air!
Worst part of the footy season: Wet, heavy balls at mid-week training on cold Winter nights (nothing we have to worry about in Hong Kong!)
Favourite Quote: “Tough times don’t last, tough people do.”
